Rory & Her Best Buddy Colton

Rory went over to Colton's while I had a doctor's appointment. I can't believe how grown up they look. The kids were somewhere around 6-9 months (maybe) when we first met Colton at gymboree. When we started playdates they were around 18 months. And now 3 and half! Deanna said that Rory really liked the cymbals and suggested a drum set for Rory. Sammy and I both voted no. Sammy was trying to teach himself to play the piano the other night and after probably 20 minutes of the same phrase of notes over and over, I'm not sure if I can take children learning instruments.....

Payton eating cereal

We started giving Payton oatmeal this week. She really likes it. She gets both her arms and legs going and makes noises while we are feeding her. For a couple of weeks she has been very interested when we are eating, so it's time. She even got a taste of refried beans at Mesa Rosa and liked them, so she is defintely our daughter!

Rory & Payton

Payton is really coming into her own. She is playing by herself a lot more now. She likes her exersaucer and spins around in it playing with every toy. Rory is into playing with her toys too, probably because it's something new. Rory is getting better with Payton. Still see the tinge of jealousy, but that may be a lifetime of learning to get over. Payton absolutely adores Rory. She is always curious about what Rory is doing. She smiles at her all the time, and Rory is pretty much the only one who can get Payton to really giggle-blowing raspberries. I have no idea what it's like to have a sister, so I really hope I can help foster a wonderful friendship and sisterhood between them! How great will it be to have someone available to have a slumber party any day of the week!

Rory & Mommy Day

Grandma & Grandpa were in town for a visit, so Rory and I got an opportunity to go have an afternoon for just the two of us! Much needed. We went to the new jump place that is by the house and then got some frozen yogurt. She even was willing to go to the outlet mall. We went into a couple of stores and then she rode the rides in between. She really liked the spider man car as you can see. I told her it was time to go home and she said she wanted to go into one more store. So I seized the chance. But she kept saying she wanted to go into more stores when it was time to go home. I think she was wanting more time. Gosh, just to think just a short five months ago it was just she and I. I think of all the extra things I got to do for her and with her before Payton. It makes me a little sad because it's not as easy to do some things and sad that she doesn't understand completely, but our lives are so enriched by Payton and I know she loves her very much. More Mommy and Rory days to come--it makes us both happy to be able to do that!

New Years

Rory and Mia thoroughly entertained us with singing at the beginning of the evening. Payton was a little stranger shy and so I spent most of the evening trying to keep her calm in Grandma's room. Ping has a little mishap that kept Carrie and Grandpa at the vet. Sammy orchestrated the firework display and it was wonderful as usual.
