Disney on Ice

Sammy got Rory and I tickets to go see Disney on Ice. We had great seats on the floor! Rory LOVED it! She was so excited. At the end she cried because she didn't want to go home. It was so great to see how happy and excited she was to be there. Wished Sammy could have seen her first hand--we figured Rory would enjoy more without little sister and feel more special too. Here are a couple of videos and pictures.

Feeding Fast Track

So Payton's on the fast track course to eating solid foods. We started with oatmeal cereal at 5 and half months and then did veggies and fruits from there. She really liked green beans. I remember being so precise with Rory following all the recommendations. Well, Payton isn't interested in waiting to follow any guidelines. She doesn't want to be eating liquidy food when the rest of us are eating more interesting stuff. She loves the Gerber puffs--grabbing them by the handful and shoving as many as she can in her mouth. Today her lunch consists of tuna, cheese, and green beans. She seems to be enjoying it. Most of it for her is being able to feed herself. She's got two teeth on the bottom that have broken through the skin and you can just barely see them. I can't seem to get a good picture. She is still nursing very well, but many time would much rather see what Rory is doing or see what Bogey is doing rather than nurse. Hard to believe that we are closing in on a year old and that it's almost time to be done nursing. Not sure if I'm ready to give it up. Feel like I worked so hard to get here. We'll see how long she is interested in it and go from there. There are pros and cons to stopping--sleeping all way through the night.... I'm started to pump more now because Sammy said she doesn't seem to like the formula as much when I got to work and I never built up a supply.

We have been working on signing. She did the sign for night-night the other day, but when I put her in bed, she cried, of course. She pats our shoulder when she wants to eat and has done that for a while. And beats on the highchair tray for more.

She adores Rory more than anything! She lights up when ever she sees her and looks around when we say Rory's name...even know to look toward her room. Probably have another smarty on own hands. She's different though--very grabby and adventurous. Rory was more timid.

She is almost at a full crawl. She'll take two or three crawls. She does have her own method of getting around from sitting up to a little crawl and then sitting up again.

Rory's Memory

Rory is pretty darn smart. of course we all knew that already, right? She is going to be my little secretary. Last night we were talking about the things we were going to do today. She asked if we could go to the library and also if we could get sand for the sandbox. I told her sure, but that I also needed to clean the house. This morning, when we got up today, I told her to tell Sammy what we were doing today. She confidently spouted out, "We need to clean the house, go to the library, and get sand." What a girl!

We have also been working on getting her to learn my phone number. I knew she knew the last four digits because she was making up a phone number one day and it has the same last four digits. On Tuesday, I was signing my info at school and asked her what my phone number was....she recited it perfectly with 512 at the beginning. Today she also asked to see the Centerbrook Place street sign. I think she is really starting to recognize letters and possibly words. I know she recognizes 'baby' and 'Cinderella'--or at least that Cinderella starts with a capital "c". We were reading Cinderella the other day and she asked "did you say all the Cinderellas on that page? She pointed to Coachman which she thought I should have said Cinderella. Maybe she'll be reading soon!

Rory-isms

Went to the doctor today for Payton's funky-shaped head. Everything is fine with that. As the PA was taking a history down and asking questions about Payton's development, Rory whispered, "Tell the doctor that Payton doesn't like to play with Daddy." Don't know what that was all about. Sammy was sitting right there.

Yesterday, we talked about getting the big carseat down from attic for Payton. When we went to pick up lunch, I told Rory that this was the last time Payton would ride in the baby carseat. Later that evening she asked, "Is Payton going to grow up tomorrow? Will she be big in the morning?"

My Little Painter

Rory painted a picture for Payton today. She said she would do mine another day. I think she enjoyed mixing the paint more than anything. She wanted to make sure I got a picture of all the paints.

Tea Party

I want to get so much better about writing things down. I would love my girls to really be able to know lots about their childhood. And how what they do and say brings smiles to us many times a day!

Today Rory and I had a tea party. She is so funny! I was Snow White and she was Ariel. She had a couple of tea cups setup on her table in the toy room. She essentially gave me a script of what I am suppose to say and ask. I was suppose to be in the toy room with the door closed. "Mom, you are Snow White, and you open the door when I knock. I am wearing a mulberry(hers and my favorite color)dress, with a mulberry crown. You tell me how much you like it." Door closes. "oh wait, Mom, I am wearing mulberry glass slippers, too, tell me you like those too." Door closes again. So I'm in my place inside the toy room awaiting Ariel's knock. She knocks, I compliment her appropriately. I ask her wear she got her dress. "Target." She says, "oh I am wearing a mulberry necklace too, ask me where I got it." So I follow my instructions. Necklace came from Target too. "Oh wait, I forgot my mulberry ring." SHe runs out of the room into her room to find the imaginary ring. Comes back and more instructions to compliment and ask when she got it. I told her to tell me it was from Tiffanys'. So she did, but then started talking like Tiffanys was a girls' house....I'll have to explain that to her later. The tea party went on. She mostly talked about her "friends" Pooku and Jippy. And of course how she was waiting for Prince Eric to come. She asked me if my prince was coming. She had planned out where they could sit, etc. More conversation and more instructions on what I was suppose to say and ask. Fun, fun! Uncle Kyle think she is going to be a script writer. Lots of imagination and maybe not so eager to be the center of attention. He could be right!

Dying Easter eggs

Bluebonnets in SA

Neighborhood Egg Hunt

Teravista had easter egg hunt and petting zoo on Saturday. Girls had a good time. I think Payton might have enjoyed the animals more than Rory and she didn't actually get to go in. Rory is timid like me....There was a bunny that was sitting right at Payton's feet and Sammy thinks that maybe it nibbled on Payton's toe because she cried a little bit. She liked pulling up on the gate. Rory loved hunting eggs with Colton.

Easter goodies

Grandma sent Rory this chicken (along with lots of other goodies) because of their little joke, "you are no spring chicken." Payton LOVED it!!***still working on getting video uploaded...
