First day of Kindergarten!

Rory was ready! And very excited! No nerves were apparent until she walked into the classroom. She started tucking her hair behind her ears and tentatively went and sat at her seat. She was ready though. I tried to hold back the tears as I said I love you and have a good day. Don't even know if I got it all out. When I got back into the car, Payton asked "Where Rory go?" I told her to went to school, and Payton started crying, "I wanna go." Uh-oh. I think the anticipation has been worse for me. Rory told Sammy that she was nervous for Meet the Teacher night, but she wasn't nervous anymore. I had been teary a couple of weekends before. Sammy hollered at Rory, "Hey Rory, get over here, your mom is crying." "Oh Lord's Sake mom, I have to go to kindergarten, I'll always be your daughter!" Ok, so she is going to be ok. Mrs. Goertz is her teacher. Sammy works with Aaron, her husband. Gives me some extra comfort because I feel like if Rory has a problem transitioning, that maybe she'll get a little extra tender care. Sammy had a little panic moment though, thinking, hmm all these crazy things I tell Rory to be funny, might make it back full circle to embarass him at work. About 9:30, I think I slowed down for a bit and a little of the anxiety came back, Did she go to the bathroom before she left the house, will she ask to go? Sammy checked on me and reassured me. And too I have to remember, she went to preschool for 3 years, she knows how to operate away from me. I just can't believe she is 5. I have this unrealistic thought that my time for being her mom is over. I know I am SO wrong. Just kinda crazy that she is going to be spending most of her day away from me. Where does the time go?! I guess I am really going to be panicking when Payton starts preschool in a couple of weeks, what to do with myself?!!

Waiting to pick up Rory

We got to school pretty early to make sure we got a good parking spot, so we had some time to kill. Payton got up in the front seat, her favorite thing to do in the car and drinking her favorite drink, "coke"(Diet Dr. Pepper.)

Payton's 2!

I feel like the poor second child gets jipped....her party was thrown together last minute, but then we ended up celebrating three different times with her, three different cakes, so maybe not poor second child. We had Hadley and Piper, Payton's two little friends, come over for a little lunch playdate. I think Payton spent the majority of the time saying "Mine" when they picked up any of her toys. Then we spent the weekend at Nanny & Papa's house. Cake number two. And then Monday night on her actual birthday, we celebrated as a family with a tea party and watched Rango.
