Rory and her dad

We went to library this morning. Rory found a girl in there and started talking to her at table. She said "my dad and I are reading Ramona and Beezus. We have one more chapter and then he is going to take me to see the movie." It was really quiet in the library, not very many people. She said "My dad is..." I looked at her and thought, oh god what is she going to say. She saw me look at her and said "He's crazy...oh gosh!" The two people that were in the library could hear every word she said, so I was waiting for "My dad farts..." but she refrained thank goodness!

Payton's 1

We celebrated Payton's 1st birthday this weekend. Sammy's parents and Roe's gang came up to San Antonio. It was a fun weekend. We swam and ate. I was feeling guilty that we weren't having a big party for Payton like we did for Rory, but it just didn't make sense. Payton had her own special purple cake and the rest of us had a Princess cake(Rory's request for Payton). She's taking more and more steps. Says "bruff, bruff" when she sees Bogey. Says, "three" when we say one, two... Says "done" when she is all done eating. Says "nite-nite". She has pretty much stopped nursing. I have nursed her once in the middle of the night when I don't want to get a bottle. She is sleeping a lot better and is sleeping pretty well from 730pm to about 7am. We have tried cow's milk, but she doesn't seem to fond of it. I have been mixing it with formula, hoping to trick her into getting use to it. She wants to eat anything that we eat and lately has really liked CapriSuns. Probably because Rory drinks them. She is much more daring than Rory was. She climbs onto the couch from the air mattress on the floor. She wants to pull on plugs, open cabinets. She has her two bottom teeth and the two top have come through. Two more on either side of the front two are about to push through. She is very into bubbles right now. I have forgotten how simple and entertaining they are. She is wearing 12 month clothes and I think size 3 shoes, although her feet seem thicker/fatter than Rory's were. At our 12 month checkup she was 21 pounds 4 ounces and 29 inches, both 50th percentile. She just really seems like she is growing fast!!

Sisters

Sammy and I love watching the interaction between Rory and Payton. Payton absolutely adores Rory. If she says "achoo", Payton belly laughs. If Sammy or I do it, she gives a little smile, but that's about it. Payton has discovered bubbles. She knows we keep them under the kitchen sink. This morning, she was in the cabinet and had pulled out several of the bubble bottles. Rory walked up to her and Payton handed Rory a bubble wand so she would blow them for her. It was just such a sweet interaction! It is just so crazy that it seems like Payton has known from very early on that Rory was her sister. They hold hands in the back seat of the car, Payton loves it when Rory shakes her arm up and down. Today at lunch Payton saw me give Rory a caprisun and about came unglued because she didn't have one, so Rory shared hers with Payton. Rory is such a good big sister.

Sammy promised Rory a book if she caught a fish.....the only bribe that has worked so far.

Saturday night

So, it's 1030 and I'm in bed with Rory, she's asleep. Sammy's out on the couch watching TV, maybe asleep, Payton's been asleep. Kinda crazy to think how much our lives have changed-that we are excited to be in bed on a Saturday night at 1030-and how much we love it. Spent the evening at Chuck E Cheese. Payton rode a couple of the little rides with Rory and LOVED it! Rory had a great time too. Sammy did his part in making sure she got enough tickets to get some good prizes. Fun family night!!
